On May 15, 2017 Miss Christal Potter, Miss Florence, South Carolina 2017 visited the Veterans at the
Veterans Victory House. She said it was her first visit; however, not her last. Here she visits with Brother
Lewis “Chief” Lee. What follows is her posting about her experience and personal feelings of that day.
Today, I experienced one of the greatest honors. I was so privileged to make a new friend, known as "Chief", who happens to be one of the remaining Pearl Harbor survivors. Chief shared with me some heart-wrenching accounts from his experience. This man and his fellow servicemen and friends witnessed more tragedy than I can wrap my head around, yet he exuded such joy and kindness. We prayed together and thanked the Lord for His protection and favor over his life, and I thank God for this great blessing. I'll never forget our visit, and it is my hope that the men of my generation will grow in the wisdom and character of dear Mr: "Chief". 98 never looked so good!! ☺️
"So many young boys, sailors, were scattered...it was so cruel."
